Generator only producing 160v ( or less!)

Many thanks - again!
With you description and with the help of Superheat6k I now understand exactly where they are located and I understand what you mean about it being almost impossible to change through the small aperture. I took of the small gauze plate off the end plate and thought....... "nah they surely aren't meant to be changed through there are they"?
I think I'll bite the bullet and take the end plate off completely. From what I recall, the plate is held in place by about 8 bolts so it shouldn't be too difficult to remove!
Famous last words!

You will need an end plate rubber gasket if you take the end cover off as it seals the water jacket, if it leaks when you refit it sea water will destroy the windings, I've seen so many generators fail due to a failed gasket, this maybe your reason too.

If you do need a rewind let me know as I have a rewind shop at my factory. More used to doing larger 3 phase fridge compressor motors, but my guys are from a general rewind background, and it won't cost anything for us to look at it. We couldn't do it free, but a lot less than £800. The factory is at Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottingham, but you can get it there, or Reading or to me at Hamble.
