Gelcoat

If you just want a colour match.. take a sample to a local car body paint specialists. Their day job is matching colours.
Cars Southern at Latchingdon are happy to colour match gelcoat.. but they are nowhere near Shotley.

I have used Smoothy, otherwise known as Smooth Finish at Titchmarsh. A long way by road but not far on the water. I had a bit of damage maybe seven years ago and it is still invisible.

If you can find someone with a full RAL colour sample set to borrow East Coast supplies have lots of the matching gel colours in stock at very reasonable prices. I managed to match the topside colour of our daughters Pandora perfectly and the half kilo of gelcoat was only a few pounds.

RAL colour sets are not cheap and you need to find an interior designer who will lend you one. From memory they’re over 30 quid.

I would say original ral code won't help on a boat that has been out in the elements for a good few years, a good visible match would likely do a better job.

Absolutely. Even if you do match one area, it might be different round the other side, especially if the boat has spend a long time on the same mooring, UV will have affected different areas in varying degrees.

ECFS used to provide a colour matching card, from the many whites and off-whites on which I was able to get a good enough match for small repairs. The modest cost of the card was refundable on ordering a kit of the chosen shade; I don't think they offer that facility that any longer - but worth checking.

Dear old Gladys in my first year of ownership got T boned whilst on the mooring and suffered pretty bad damage. The other party's insurance repair was done at Fox's, and the gelcoat matching was fantastic... Still can't see the repair 15 years on...

Quite possibly done by Alan Wyatt, as he used to work for Foxs.

I too have had minor gel-coat repairs at Hall's, and you can't see where the damage was (I rammed a pontoon!)
