Gastronome Help/Advice needed near Split Croatia

We will be in the Split area (Or within 100 miles up or down the coast) mid August. I will have some good friends onboard and its his 40 th birthday. He is a real foodie, can anyone suggest a very special venue within 100 miles or so of Split where we could have a bit of a blow out session to celebrate his big day. Any suggestions related to food or otherwise greatly welcomed.

Yes, there's a foodie place on Lastovo, I believe, which is really the biz. You need to book. I'll try and get the details from a friend who's been and let you know tomorrow.
Alternatively... head for Vieste!

I would suggest Meneghello's restaurant i Palmizana on Pakleni otoci near Hvar. Lovely marina, a short walk to the restaurant. And if you want something different I can suggest a few places in Hvar itself.

Would agree that Meneghello's is a fantastic place , but wouldn't classify it as "foodie" stiricto senso.But for a big bash, if you contact them in advance...
As an alternative to the marina, you can anchor in the bay on the other side of the island, in front of the restaurants, and dinghy ashore. Wot u save in marina fees can be spent on food . And last time we were there, 2006, there was no access control to marina showers, so those without scruples could anchor and benefit from the facilities .

If you are in Korcula, there is a GREAT bar in one of the towers of the wall with a perfect view over the bay - where they serve very good cocktails (did in 2005).

Probably not as near to Split as you wish - maybe 130 miles or so.
But this is (in Croatia) the nearest to your needs, imho.

You may want to try "Triton", Zaklopatica, on the N side of Lastovo. We had a great blow out 3 years ago, but found it a bit expensive cos we were taken in by the "talking menu"., and half the crew were on a tight budget. The other half thought that 50 EUR for 6 courses incl wine, wasn't that bad. If we were to do it again, we would go for the fishy starters, the langoustines, but would go for meat as main - the fish is just soo expensive
May be worth contacting them in advance to sort details.
Another address recommended by my Skipper is Tople, Tribunj.
