Fuel much cheaper; depending on hours run, you can get your conversion costs back fairly quickly; about 15-20% less economical than petrol, performance slightly down but you wouldn't notice it.
Downside is conversion costs; availability of fuel; room for LPG tanks(but you would only have a small petrol tank for backup); possible difficulty in Insurance? Go to a recognised convertor and speak to satisfied customers
There have been other posts on this subject in the past - do a search.

I'd rather be sailing... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
HiYa Kevin, there has been extensive discussions on this subject in the motor boats forum. Several people there have had these conversions. Try posting there, expect some ribbing as well as sense as they are a pretty irreverent crowd.
Not me of course, I'm always serious /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
I had a LPG car (France): there are unwelcome signs for this type of
vehicle all over the place - forbidden in multistorey carparks, not supposed
to use the tunnel or carferries. One blew up in the owner's garage last
week and seriously damaged 20 houses nearby. Have marinas any
bylaws about gas-fuelled boats: what sort of qualifications does a fitter
have to produce (so far, so good). And where do you fill up? When I was in
England I never saw a LPG pump. Or is it only small motors with domestic
gas-bottles.
As the biggest supplier of marine LPG systems in the world we make sure our systems and installers are reaching the highest quality and safety standards.
For this reason we take care of the necessary education of our installers.
If they pass our test they will get a certificate as a prove of their skills and knowledge.
About the filling stations: you can see a list on our web-site www.iwemalpg.com. =>"marine index"
At this moment most vessels can run on LPG from Scotland to Ireland.
For next seson there will be even more filling stations.
If you are interested in sailing to Ierland, from next seson on you will be able to fill your tanks in Ierland.
So, you can run your boat engine on LPG (and not only the small once).
We convert most 4, 6, and 8 cylinder boat engines to run on LPG.
For more information about the possibility of converting your boat you can contact us at iwema.lpg@chello.nl or ask for our UK dealer list.
I have been running a petrol/LPG car for three months and have only filled the petrol tank twice.
Performance - absolutely no difference between petrol and LPG. Cost - 37p a litre for LPG. That's forecourt prices. Marina prices should be lower as they buy at bulk price.
For a boat with a petrol engine it makes absolute economic sense to convert so long as your marina has an LPG supply. Mine does. I agree with the importance of proper installation but LPG is no more inherently dangerous than petrol on board. Half a cup of petrol in the bilges makes for an explosive mix.
Thanks Hugo........do you manufacture the sol valves or buy them in...if so would you know who does manufacture them???....the valve been universal , just the coil needing to be changed.....
