The base of the double bed in the forecabin of our Dufour 365 lifts to give access to the storage below it. My wife finds it quite heavy to lift and to make it easier I want to add a gas strut (or struts). I have got a quote for stainless steel ones but I wonder if standard ones would suffice?

I've used standard cheap ones in several places. Been ok for 10 years. A touch of epoxy primer helps. The piston seem pretty good.

Replaced my engine hatch with a more powerful strut after fitting some heavier sound proofing.
SGS engineering.

Thank you. The quote I have is from SGS but I have asked them to re quote for a non S/S equivalent.
