I have a question about gas bottles in may we are travelling from the UK to Spain Portugal and the canaries for 16 months currently we have two 4.5 kg calor gas bottles and a 907 Caz gas, will we be able to get any of these filled in Spain if not can we get gas bottles there cheapish?
Thanks Luke

Spain is great for gas - the price is state regulated so about 1/3rd the UK price right now and the bottles are mostly lightweight alloy or stainless so no rusty ring marks. You may find places to refill but we just saw a Repsol gas man on his rounds in a lorry (as almost all houses use bottle gas) and flagged him down and he sold us a 15 kg for €20 cash which we could then swap at any repsol petrol station / marina anywhere in Spain with no contract. Later we found Cepsa brand bottles in almost every second hand store round port towns for a few euros and grabbed one of those too so we could swap them at Cepsa places too. Regulators to fit are about €5 for almost everywhere . Its very very easy in Spain as everyone uses bottles so even the smallest town will have places to swap them, and regulators, hoses etc in everything from Ferriterias (hardware stores) to tourist shops.

you probably already know but if you're going for 16 months from May that will be after the transition period for Brexit so you may need to fly back to the UK (assuming you are a UK citizen) to apply for a visa to stay over 90 days from January 1st 2021 - it cannot be done in country as things stand now

Not worth taking the calor gas bottles. It is possible to get them refilled but you cannot rely on it and travelling will be involved. As Trident says, gas is very cheap in Spain, 13 kg propane €11.70. Butane also available, I guess about the same price. Bottles come up on Ebay in UK from time to time.
Camping gaz is available but will probably cost about the same for 2.7 kg.
