Another Orwell question!

I have a Force 10 gas heater on board; a well built and robust bit of kit, professionally fitted. In the eight years I have had the boat I have never used it. The previous owner, I suspect, did not either.

I have been considering replacing it with a Bengco charcoal heater as I suspect that the Force 10 is heavy on gas consumption. However, SWMBO (using rare logic) suggested that we can buy an awful lot of gas for the price of a new Bengco and it seems like a lot of expense, hassle and waste to replace what should be a perfectly fine heater.

Anyway, it does not work and I suspect it may be something like the flame failure device (thermocoupler?).

Gas scares me even more than electricity so I am looking for somebody who knows what they are doing.

Any suggestions/recommendations welcome.

Thanks in anticipation.

If the burner ignites & then fails once you release the gas valve knob then yes your probably right it is the thermocouple.
Cheap enough. Probably just the run of the mill standard thermocouple.
Easy to change.
