Garmin Screen Contrast

I have just installed a Garmin 232 (b/w) chartplotter with two positions’, one at the chart table and one in the cockpit. I am disappointed in the screen clarity and can only get satisfactory viewing in either position with the backlight on. Does anyone else have the same experience?

I don't know your model but have a Garmin 12 and had alot of trouble sorting out the contrast. Turned out that the adjustment was the opposite way to how I thought. There was item on Motorboat part of this site re Garmin !2 Memory Battery (April 9th) where respondents praised Garmin for their customer service and if you ring them I expect they will be pleased to sort out your problem. Alternatively try their website www.garmin.com which apparently has answers to most common customer queries.
