I have a Garmin Quatix, an early one which by a quirk of fate have only worn on two occasions. I recently put it on charge and whilst it works perfectly whilst connected, dies immediately the lead is removed.

Garmin don't provide a battery change service.

I have tried my usual go to, a great company in Tring who can't help.

Anyone had similar issues and found a solution.

Buying a new one at £400 isn't going to happen!

Thanks

Tony

Garmin certainly did provide a battery change service. If you’re searching better to look for Fenix 3 batteries as I think that’s the hardware you have. When calling Garmin support tell them it’s a Fenix too and you’ll get through to the outdoor team rather than the marine team who likely know very little about your watch.

It would seem to me this is another example of Garmin built in replacement strategy. I have just experienced the same with A Fusion which don’t seem to survive for much more than 5 years based on my experience and indeed posts by others. Why does a processor give up or a battery fail at 5 years -do they build them like this deliberately ?

It certainly looks like it. My Fusion died after maybe 7 years, whereas I have an old School Ford in my garage that has the original stereo it came out of the factory with still working perfectly after 32 years. If it were a one-off, I could forgive them, but the web of full of tales of woe from Fusion stereo owners with dead units and no comeback.
