Garmin plotters. Are the charts free?

If you are prepared to have a smaller non touch screen the 65cv is also very good value at around £475 including pre loaded charts - very pleased with mine.

Is that the one preloaded with the G3 charts? what level of detail do these show as I'm still a bit unsure.

I told you earlier, these are the same charts as you'd buy. Look on the Garmin site for details.

Yes, the G3 charts as used on other Garmin plotters with exactly the same detail- as Paul said you can upgrade to the "vision" charts but in my opinion for most chart work this is not necessary. The Garmin website explains the difference between the two types.

I just wanted something relatively basic to replace an old Standard Horizon plotter. I take it there is no annual charge or anything similar (unless you want to update?).

There are no annual costs, unless you choose to update. You get a years free updates, then it's up to you. You can also use your pre-installed charts on your phone and/or tablet with the Garmin Active Captain app', as a stand alone chart plotter backup, if your devices have GPS.

No annual charge - not sure about updates - maybe Paul could help on that one? - sorry Paul you were quicker than me!!
