Garmin GPS230 Plotter Cards

Hi is anyone familiar with this unit, Its been offered to me 2nd hand but is in need of map cards.
I will be sailing on and around the bristol channel, based in Milford Area,

No chance! They use Garmin G charts which are rare as hens teeth. Sign up for an EBay search and wait - probably for months! They turn up occasionally on Boats and Outboards, too, which is where I eventually got my main English Channel Card for the 225 that came with the boat. Uusual price seems to be around £35 - £50 depending on the area.

Garmin stopped producing these around 2003, and to make sure we all threw away our perfectly good chartplotters and bought the new SD based card range of plotters, recalled all the stock of G Chart cards from the retailers, and destroyed them! They will tell you - quite politely - they no longer suppport them, and offer you a new unit for £450+

If anyone knows a source of G charts, there are quite a number of us around looking for them!
