I have just purchased a Garmin 520 map, can anyone tell me if it is possible to download the charts to a S.D. card or do I have to now buy the Garmin card for the Irish Sea.
My understanding is that you have to buy Bluecharts for UK waters although there are some areas (like Croatia) with pirated charts freely downloadable. You can buy your charts on cards, CD or as downloads, but I haven't foung a free source.
Which is a pity as I want to try my GPSmap76 with a proper chart, But it doesn't take cards & has a relatively small memory. I don't want to spend £200 just to see if it is worth doing.

Steve,
Just got a 76C and sprang for the charts, too. Scillies to Mull is about 20 MB, so should fit. Whether it's worth it is a bit subjective, but should our paths cross , you would be welcome to a play (ooh err!). Either that, or give me a shout next time you're passing (10 mins from A55).
