I currenlty have a Garmin Fishfinder 100 installed with a glassed in transponder. I need to replace the fishfinder as it is broken beyond repair. Any one know if I will also need to replace the transponder ?. The 100 is ok for my current purposes so don't need to upgrade the functionality.
Many thanks.
David

Your 100 is nearly 20 year old technology and only 200kHz, so it's almost certain you will need to fit a new transducer. Most fishfinders come with a new one and it's not hard it fit it "in hull" without the need for drilling big holes or glassing in.
