About three years ago I returned to Garmin a GPS126 which had given up the ghost. Despite the instrument being long out of warranty (and bought by the previous owner of the boat), at their volition they replaced it with a new unit free of charge.

Recently the antenna of my GPS 128 was damaged. Phone call to Garmin Europe: "Oh, we have a spare one here. What’s your address. I'll pop it in the post".

A cynical attempt to secure customer loyalty? Who cares? I’m hooked.

I've heard similar stories about their legendary customer service. I'm currently in the market for a GPS and thinking of getting a Garmin.

Would you have any recommendation about what model to look at? I would prefer to get one that has a combination fish finder/sounder and one which is simple to use.

Thanks in advance.

Garmin's customer service is indeed legendary, and it's wonderful to see they are keeping it up. Year after year, they gain similar comments here. They deserve all the credit they obtain here for this sort of service.
