Garmin chart download

I've just been struggling to download my included 6 month update for my GPSMAP 750 to an SD card initialised in the unit. The Garmin website isn't too clear about it all.
Eventually I got to the point where it recognised the card, was downloading the chart for ages, then it finished that and downloaded software updates, then it said finished.
However looking at the SD card nothing has changed; the file dates and sizes are the same as before and there is nothing extra.
Can anyone tell me if that is normal please?
I haven't got the unit here to try the card in.
If I go to the download page again, it offers me the opportunity to download again, but it says it's only valid until Sep 24 whereas before it was Oct 20.

Sorted. It's left the original files unchanged in the root and put the updates in a sub directory!

We have a 4008 and we found quite a lot of stuff that wasn't on our chart after contacting Garmin and six of so email later Garmin offered us a free new update chart when the new chart comes out , a year later , one year later we down loaded the new chart guess what it was the same as the old chart , rocks , reefs and sland we pointed out to them where still not on the new chart , bit of a waste of time as far as I am concern .

I have the 2012 update in mine. Where there's a marina at St Cast Garmin shows rocks and mud, despite the fact that Cunliffe's Channel Pilot, 2009 edition, covers it and provides a chartlet.

So I wouldn't sweat on having the latest update, I'd rely on publishers not gizmologists for most recent info.

Indeed, but as it's at no cost.... Won't be in a hurry to repeat.
Will be interesting to see if it shows the Rampion wind farm met mast yet.
