Garmin Bluechart G2 - replacing lost card?

A few months ago I talked to Garmin about a kind of similar issue. Bought a new boat and wanted to use the "almost new" Bluechart G3 card in the new boat.
Was told that the card/chart is paired/ locked with the plotter the first time the card is incerted into the plotter/ card reader.

There is a procedure to terminate this pairing and pair the sd card with another device, but it involves several steps and a computer to download the maps and so on.
I ended up just buying a new Bluechart G3.

Also the Garmin pc software "Homeport" does not support the new G3 charts, only the older G2.

I think I'll stick with G2.

Homeport isn't perfect but it is very useful!

I wish there was some PC App half as useful for C-MAP products...

Very true! I have already asked Garmin about why G3 is not supported, or if it will be in the future, but haven't received a clear answer.

Ditto, it is the one time that I have been unimpressed with their otherwise excellent support, but it seems clear to me that they are allowing HomePort to slowly die and expecting users to replace it with Active Captain on Android/iOS, The latter, whilst ok for very casual use, simply doesn't give the planning functionality of the former (like most 'phone apps vs PC), I hope something happens to change this but I'm not optimistic.
