garmin 182C condensation

Hi Simon

Don't know this unit personally but most condensation problems have the same cause and cure.

You need to dry out the unit and prevent moisture from rentering! If you can get the back off or open it up in any way then do so and place the unit in an airing cupboard or somewhere similarly warm and make sure the opening is upmost so the water vapour (which rises) can escape. This might take some time depending on temperature, relative humidity etc.

Once dry, the trick is preventing moisture from reentering. Check any seals etc repair/replace as necessary.

Not a very succinct or informative reply but as noone else had chipped in thought I'd give my 2p worth.

Good luck

Chas

I agree, if it's got out of control it needs to go in the airing cupboard for a while. Can't remember for sure, but I think Raymarine suggest switching on the lighting at the first sign of misting to drive off the water vapour, may be a useful preventative measure next time.

Raymarine A65

Our Raymarine does it .. It Was replaced by Foxs but the new one does the same .. We have been told that it is only in the glass and will not effect the unit .. Time will tell ..
