I'm looking to build up a bit of sailing experience. Currently day skipper and have some time off until around 21 December so was hoping to join a boat somewhere and do some sailing. Perhaps a delivery or something similar. I looked at the Crewseekers website but, being a bit sceptical, wasn't too keen on paying the membership fees and then finding that most of the adverts are out of date or something like that.

Does anyone have any experience with the crewseekers website, or can anyone recommend similar options to gain experience? I'm based out of Alicante, Spain but happy to fly out somewhere if it gets me 2-3 weeks on a boat.

Crewseekers is expensive and clunky, I prefer Crewbay as it allows lots more info and photos. I have found great crew from both, but Crewbay is truly excellent, a relatively recent start-up by an English chap.
Facebook offers lots of crewing opportunities, it is great for yachting purposes and you can select your privacy levels.
I presently have a crewing opportunity, advertised on all the above, but it's in winter, in the North Sea..

I cannot think of quicker way (well maybe I can :) ) to gain hands on experience than sailing in the North Sea in winter. Sailing in sunny balmy conditions is hardly the challenge that the North Sea might offer.

Good luck to both of you.

+1, That's the way to do it; straight in the deep end.
