Gaff rig sails

Can anyone recommend a good and not too expensive sail maker to make a main and jib?

Crusader made some stunning cream sails for us. It was all sorted over the phone and emailing some pictures. The service was spot on and price was as good if not better that other quotes we had.

Very very surprised at that. Have you rung them? They make gaff sails for lots of gaffers around here. I'm going to ring Nick in the morning. Will report back.

Hope you meant April, best to ring. In any event I shall ring them. There is an expression here in Cornwall that they will do things "Dreckly" which is like manãna but without the sense of urgency. Nevertheless SKB are first class sailmakers, perhaps IT is not their forté.

No I meant March! Being a Devon boy and lived in Cornwall on and off I understand the manna!

Penrose responded once only to ask if I really meant I wanted three reefs. I said I did and never heard anything further from them either. I put it down to everyone being balls out this time of year!

Thanks Steve. I dont have time for the phone call at work but have forwarded on all the info to them they had originally. If I hear nothing by next week will call Nick when I get back.

Some of the best gaffer sails I've seen come from James Lawrence (Mark Butler now of course). I doubt they come cheap though.
