Having renewed the raw water pump on my Volvo MD 22 P-B engine due the the bearing seizing I now find that the cam end on which the pulley that drives the raw water pump has an oil leak.
I have stripped it down and it looks like the lip seal needs renewing.
I have managed to read Angus GACO INA 51826 (rotation anti-clockwise) on the lip seal that is in place.
I believe GACO has gone out of business or has been taken over.
The Volvo part number looks like it is 859660 according to the schematics.
Can anyone confirm this is the seal I need and is there any advice on taking the old one out and putting the new one it.
Thanks for any help

These seals are usually standard for thousands of applications and widely available through motor factors and bearing specialists. Provided you have the measurements, or the old one as a pattern, you should be able to find a replacement without too much trouble.

There is a page on water pumps on my website. Probably not on your exact model but it should give you the idea. Getting the old one out is never a problem using punches and similar kit but you will destroy it. Putting the new one back without damaging it is the key to reliability. Some tips on the website.

Thanks Viv.
I didn't want to take the old one out until I could source a new one and as I am in Sicily that is proving more difficult than I thought... hence the Volvo part number.

Thank you NOHOH.
There is a volvo dealer in Ragusa as well who are quiet big so I will try them as well before getting the bus to Santa Croce.

Don't know your engine, but could the 51-82-6 be the size of the lipseal in mm? shaft dia 51mm, body dia 82mm seal depth 6mm . Sounds as though it may originally have been an imperial measurement - 2" x 3-1/4" x 1/4" - ish. Anyway, if it is the size you can order it online, simples.
