I am quite happy at the moment on Windermere, however should I wish to move to another location at some future date can anyone reccomend somewere within a few hours of Lancashire other than N/Wales (sorry Dave Snelson nothing personal) I really fancy the Broads but I think its just a little too far. Answers on a postcard or simply post it here. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I have always fancied bombing around on Tarn Hows myself, but it is not easy to get a low loader up the steep hill.

hlb keeps his boat in plymouth, nice area, and not too many hours away. Much better than the poxy Ouse, surely? Anyway, it's in Yorkshire you won't be let in :)

Tarn Hows ! Yeah right /forums/images/icons/smile.gif or maybe Watendlath. Anyway, sensible suggestions need only apply.

West Coast of Scotland/Loch Lomond? Alastairr seems to like it. Sadly, like Windermere, there is a speed limit but I think it's 40 knots or summat? There's also the risk of assault from slavering, waterbourne hounds............

You could try the South Wales coast, come to Sunny Swansea...meet and talk to the famous Gludy.

If you want to get Rat**sed every weekend, this is the place for you.
Christ Ive put on a stone and a half since coming here.

Highly recommended good social scene...not stuffy or snobby...and the cheapest RD in the country...Oh sorry your petrol arent you...bring your jerry cans then...

Steve.

Loch Lomond, or on the Clyde - Largs, Ardrossan, Kip - all excellent and an easy drive for you from Lancs in about three hours. Roy

Put it in Cork and fly Manchester Cork with Air Wales for half nothing.

Actually not as preposterous as it seems!

Poxy Ouse!!

How dare you sir, I'll have you know that some of the finest fridges in Yorkshire have been seen in the Ouse and who hasn't enjoyed reading the epic voyages of Captain Horatio Whiteley as he battled the elements, overhanging trees and gas bottles - but still managed to get to Naburn having only burned an eggcupful of diesel - stirrring stuff indeed.

I would ask you to withdraw your River Aire biased comment

Yours etc

There is only one place to go 3 hours from Lancashire......that is Troon. Great friendly marina, easy accses to the superb cruising areas of the Clyde, I would say at least 40% of the berth holders here come from the north of England.

Send me a PM if you require more info

Paul.

Tarn hows is crap .. very spooky much better to go to goat water under Dow Crag near Coniston, if that tires a mega leap down onto Coniston Water should prove exciting even for the most jaded afficienado of hop scotch!

Yes, i'd aggree, West Coast of Scotland or Loch Lomond. LL does have a speed limit but nothing like Windermere will have next year. Our speed limit is 55mph at the moment, but i think its high enough not to bother most boaters. But personally i would reccommend the Clyde, what a beautiful place.

BTW, Lovely Picture.
Now don't you agree, my Wee boy looks great/forums/images/icons/smile.gif..

Agreed.
If I lived N. of Manchester on the W.side of the country I'd definitely keep my boat on the Clyde or perhaps even further W. As I don't , I can assure you locals that you've had a lucky escape/forums/images/icons/smile.gif
