Does anyone know if there’s a generic replacement antenna for the Furuno GPA017 offering? This is the antenna supplied for the GP32 GPS system & possibly others.I don’t understand GPS antennas (yes, there’s lots of things I don’t understand) but I know there are differences between passive & active etc, I just want to find replacement that works as cheaply as possible!

Generally the antenna are either just an antenna and all the GPS is in the display head or the antenna contains the antenna and the GPS unit.

It is easy to determine ine which yours is and what is on offer on Ebay and Amazon. If it is antenna only then the connection to the display is a metal antenna connector such as BNC or TNC.

If the antenna also includes the GPScicuites then the connections are nmea wires of various colours and maybe 4 or 5 wires.

Both these antenna as are on ebay etc and can be less than £50.

My GP31 failed the last rollover and gives an incorrect date. I am unwilling to trust it for navigation although it still shows a reasonable position. If your GP32 is still OK I have a spare unused GPA017. PM me if you are interested.

My GP31 failed at the rollover a few years back. Position and time is still accurate but date way out as you say.

Thanks to Bilgediver for explaining how to distinguish (identify) between the GPS antennas. And a very big thank you to Andsarkit for providing me with an almost new OEM replacement - so I’m sorted!
