My Furuno gp30 which drives my Raymarine c80 I think has pack up. Set starts ok but no satellites initiated at all.
I have seen marine gps Ariel on eBay (not Furuno) and wondered if anyone else has had this trouble and/or bought this type of Ariel?

Cant help with your question but if you cannot spell aerial call it an antenna :)

( unless you really are using a motorcycle, a bottle of laundry detergent or a fairy doll )

Are there any other boats near you with a GP30 where you could plug in your GPS to their antenna?
If you're anywhere near the southwest I could lend you a Furuno antenna for testing.
I can't remember how you open the antenna but you could try to check that the coax is still un-corroded and connected securely.
There are other potential problems with the display unit that are discussed here: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?476494-GPS-time - 5th entry down is interesting as my GP30 is that age.
