I'm making an inspection hatch in my fuel tank and I'm unsure of what type of rubber/sealant I should be using to seal the lid on it.

The tank is galvanised steel and it can be a semi permanent seal as I won't need to open it very often.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what I might be able to use?

Local car acc's shop and get a piece of gasket sheet - cut to fit.
