Fuel tank leak

There was a young man from St Raphael,
Whose bilges were quite full up with diese-el,
10 euros a pop,
Might just make it stop,
But €100 per poster’s just crimin-e-el.
and an additional €10 per post…you have been warned

Fingers crossed they can deal with it promptly. Have you got a new tank in the pipeline.
No new tank in the pipeline...a good welder should be able to repair the tank...I hope. Also I have heard so many pros and cons about stainless and plastic that I really don’t know which way to go

I had a weld give up on an aluminium fuel tank in a Fairline that I owned 20 odd years ago. It was easy to weld up once the tank came out, which needed some big time dismantling of the interior of the boat. However, it all went back fine, and TBH the thought was worse than the actuality - I just kept away until it was done :p

A word of caution, you cant easily gas free a diesel fuel tank so that its safe to re weld, my company would not do it. Secondly diesel is an oil so its extremely difficult to clean the metal before welding so impurities give you a poor weld. Thirdly my money is on corrosion from fuel bug at the bottom of a tank and its difficult to reweld corroded aluminium. I would go for a new tank or tanks.

It's nothing that Googler's previous owner couldn't bodge with a bit of fibreglass!
