Hello,

I've got to the point in re-fitting my Shetland 570 where I need to fit a new fuel system for the outboard.

I'm planning to fit a 53 litre fixed tank to feed the 115hp 2-stroke Johnson fitted on a transom-extension.

What I'd be very grateful for help with is what filter(s) and water trap(s) I should fit and where.

Presumably, the system would need an inline priming pump?

I've seen systems with twin filters, but I'm not sure of the benefit - is it to allow changing over from one filter to the other for changing/clearing blockages?

Any advice would be very welcome,

Thanks :)

YoWould usually have a primary filter which is also a water separator.

the engine fuel filter Then becomes the filter of last resort.

If you have the space and inclination you can fit valves to allow you to switch from filter to filter.

Hi,

thanks for that - I think, considering I'm only planning short-duration, inshore passages, a primary filter with a water-trap in the boat and the second filter in the engine should be sufficient, in that case.

Thanks for your help :)
