Fuel On Windermere

New piles along the shore and a marina being built. Of course they had the devil's own job getting planning permission. Jetties and Moorings are working there now, although they are supposed to be checking my mooring. Harumph.

Actualy they used the devils cunning to get planning permission. Shepherds, Aquatics and Low Wood all banded together, put forward the business case that they would go bust when the limit came in and negotiated an exception to historic planning laws (based on the needto accomodate deeper draft yachts) . Aquatics have new moorings, Shepherds are installing new jetties in Bowness and Low Wood have got to extend the old ski club moorings. I also believe Waterhead Marine jumped on the bandwagon and rode it out for permission to develop their petrol station and small mooring marina.

They are clever buggers up their, individually it would never have worked but together they got permission. And to think it took Whitecross Bay 9 years and a lot of backhanders arghh I mean 'Lobbying' to get permision for their new Marina berths!

The Jury is still out on how WMV got further planning permission for more houses......but it did coincide with the owners moving to a Jersey Tax haven and having a couple of quid spare... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

All only Pub talk of course and I have no factual information to back it up.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh. I've never heard of that before. I think that when they put the burger bar on the front it was a straightforward planning application. And I think that the newly created (in the 80's) conservation area's boundary naturally avoided the whole Lake View complex.
I can't believe there have been any underhand dealings at all.

You are right about the boundaries......but the planning is still reviewed by the same committee who apply their own version of the rules. If it is lakeside they enforce their views very strongly, but they can often be seen having diners and lunches out with certain wealthy local individuals. Of course free day use of test boats may also fall into the equation.....(oops there I go again!) /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You want to spend some time inthe club under the Nags Head with the Shepherds and Aquatics boys.......apparently they will even tell you who murdered JFK!

Cheers

I think I'll give it a miss.

Ah, I remember that place from my days on Windermere.

What was the name of the other place, above a pub next to the lake?

Carpet seemed very acceptable when I took this pic. Not sure about the loos but the manager showed me some security videos from the dance floor!
