I currently run a Merry Fisher 655 which I use as fishing boat .

It is fitted with a Volvo Penta D3 110 engine which has run a total of just under 700 hours.

Lately I have noticed fumes coming into the cabin when the boat is under way.

Inspection reveals that number 2 fuel injector is " puffing " slightly. when the engine is running . There is no neat diesel coming out, just fumes . In addition there is what appears to be a sort of resin around the bottom of the injector together with a sooty deposit.

Anyone had this before ?

Could it be that the insert into which the injector fits is leaking fumes after the explosion has taken place in the combustion chamber ?

Advice anyone please ?

Have you tried nipping down (gently tightening ) the clamp bolt or you may have to remove the injector and clean the area before refitting check what the WS manual says about removing injectors and pipes first
