Fuel in Cowes

Only two choices - the Cowes Harbour Commission fuel barge just S of chain ferry. Can be a bugger in strong tides, especially if someone has planted themselves in the middle instead of either end.

Or Lallows, which is quite tight entrance wise and has smaller tanks/lower turnover.

I’ve only used Lallows the once in raggy days and cleaned them out with 50l.... So really it’s barge or bust

I have concerns at buying in cowes in that it lurks in the tanks and might not be the cleanest supply ? I’m sure I’m being over cautious but do others worry about the age the derv has been stored ?

We filled up twice at Lallows whilst we were down there last month. Plenty of fuel and plenty of turnover was the clear impression that we got. They are open seven days a week and fuel is now sourced direct from the mainland as the local place has closed down apparently. Causes them a problem as they have to anticipate when they need a delivery as they have a slightly longer lead time. Very friendly and helpful lady there most days.

So if we take Scala posted info as a benchmark for prices how do others compare ? 93 is the benchmark but where do you look before shopping around. I was indeed surprised at fees in Gosport but that was last year even with channel crossings so curious as whether I should be just topping up from southse Asda by can ?
