Fuel Flow Sensor delivering NMEA2000 data?

I'm considering fitting a fuel management system. Displaying the data and computing the actual consumption/mile, range etc, I assume can be done by most multi function displays, given that you get fuel flow data as NMEA2000.

Given that I have diesels, I will need two fuel flow sensors for each engine (need one for the return line as well as main line). The only set up I've found so far is Maretron, which would be big €€€'s.

Anyone know of less expensive sensors? Or, is there any way to get the data right out of my engines (MAN800 vintage 2003). Of course, the fuel consumption does not show up on my engine displays - that would have been too easy.

also looked at this a while back, yes you are right, 2X2 == lots of euros :(
There's I think another company, but prices are v.similar.

So unless you can do it via the engine ecu (which I cannot as I have mechanical diesels) I doubt you're going to get a decent return for your investment

cheers

Navman used to make a standalone fuel monitor for both petrol and diesel. IIRC Lowrance also do or did one. Have a look for their legacy EP sensors. Garmin also do a standalone fuel monitor kit which I suppose you could hide out of view and just take the N2K data off.

I've done the same homework. Floscan Twin seemed ideal but at the cost given it is considered irrelevant. As a matter of fact you only need to record figures once to make the maths and know your optimum rpm/speed. To me statistics would be nice, but definitely not needed.

Saw some differential sensors (counting delivery & return), but still way too costly :(

Inexpensive suggestions highly welcome - either 2x single or twin instrument.
