fuel bleeding.

I'm slightly concerned about replacing a mechanical pump with an electric one because you are then relying on your electrical system. One of the advantages of a diesel engine is that it will continue to run without a 12v supply.

So you do not rely on electrical navigation instruments or electric navigation lights or electric bilge pumps (for example ) either ?

Get down to your local pharmacy, (independent is best, not Boots), and try and get hold of a 50ml spigot syringe. I used one at the engine end of the fuel line, just disconnected from the engine, and it sucked fuel through with ease.
