Fridge woes

Ok…the technicien arrived on time…had the refrigerant and the gauges with him…half an hour later he was all finished and the fridge is cooling as we speak.
He didn’t add any valve…so the valve must already exist on the compressor…but for the life of me I cannot see it.

Result - keep that guys name/card. You might need to do it again in 2 or 3 years time.
The port doesn't need to be on the compressor. Your system seems to be a split system where the compressor is remote from the fridge. Sailing yachts often have a "keel cooler" which is a "through hull" device to transfer heat into the seawater so split systems are very common.

The compressor is separate…it can be accessed from a hatch under the pilots seat…it is mounted on a wooden base a few inches from the back of the fridge
 
I've always thought that a manifold set and a couple of cans of R134A are a good idea to carry in the spares chest. Going to do that this year.
I did just that but, as said earlier, you need to fit (or have) a Schrader valve port.
Also watch a few Youtube videos on the subject.
I also bought some scales so that I could weigh the amount of refrigerant as well as adjust the pressures.
You should find manufacturers information printed on the side of the fridge/compressor.
