Fridge regassing southampton

wire the warning LED and see what it tells you. On a couple of occasions I was sure there was something wrong (lack of gass) only to see that I was low on battery oomph to start the compressor. What I thought was the compressor running was just the fan... Now both my fridges have permanently installed 5mm leds on the panel next to them next to the CN digital thermostats (highly recommend them as well for a tenner each!)

This is proving a nightmare. No one want to re gas it. They either say no or don’t call back. Can’t buy a new one no one has it in stock or they’ve just shut their doors. Loads of crap excuses about COVID.
Guests at the weekend an my main fridge is a cupboard.

Firdges only loose gas if they have a leak. So it is not just a regal but leak detection and repair as well.

Unless the fridge is large and new and expensive I would doubt that repair is viable. Repair I assume would be done in a workshop as they will vacuum test it over a period then I guess pressurise with UV die to find it, then repair, then re- gas. Fridges do not usually have a valve - they are gassed and then the end is bent over and braised. Lot of hassle for an old fridge.

Mark, dependant on age/ gas. If old R12, replace. as nigh on impossible to find supplies. R134 ( new) gas available. v. difficult to get hold of. Just replaced compressor/ evaporator , very keen prices available .

Agreed with all of that. But I have guests at the weekend and a new fridge can’t be found.
Places either don’t have them in stock or those that do are using COVID as an excuse for crap service.

Fascinated to learn how you have taken "it" to Poole.

Assuming it's the compressor didn't you have to disconnect the refrigerant lines? No, of course you did.

Hasn't that allowed air into the actual fridge circuit?

I always thought that if you bought/fitted a new cold plate and compressor at the same time that there was some sort of sealing both ends that got broken as you tightened the nuts together.

Like most fringes it’s a self contained unit. 4 screws and a cable and it’s out.
