I have a bog-standard fridge setup, compressor leading to (I think) Dometic plate and manual thermostat in the actual fridge top-loading compartment.

The compressor runs a little too often for my liking, having fitted (on another boat) a new one - I'm thinking this the one in this boat, which is 16 years old now, may be due either a regas or a check for leaks.
Given that I suspect this isn't a marine-specific item, anyone got any recommendations for a mobile service around Port Solent area?

On the list this winter is a task involving stuffing more insulation around the cool box cavity - but I do think that the cycle time is too quick - its firing up every couple of minutes even when turned (up?) down low.

If you get stuck I can give you the name of someone but Jeeze does he have a lack of logic.

He recently re-gassed our fridge, the connecting nuts had vibrated loose.

I asked him to change the thermostat at the same time so that we had in effect a new system.

We have a temperature sender inside the fridge which talks to one of those weather displays ... ambient temp, history, time etc.

He left but within 30 minutes the fridge started to cycle through 0.2 degree increments.

4.1 degrees, on. Run. 3.9 degrees, off. 4.1 degrees on ........

The fridge was running pretty much all the time.

His solution? Remove the sensor!!!

It was just sitting on the fridge floor transmitting the temperature!

Eventually got him back and he fitted a thermostat outside of the evaporator plate and it's working ok but a bit Heath Robinson.

So, up to you.

But I'll only do it by p.m. :nonchalance:

Sorry for the rant

Doesn't sound like an awfully great reccomendation :)
I contacted a chap in Poole but it was too far to travel.
