My top entry coolbox fridge conversion is, well, cool. But it’s a bit of a dark hole when you’re looking for the tonic, beer or even the butter.
I fitted one of those usb chargeable motion sensor wardrobe lights near the top opposite the evaporator plate. Reach in, light comes on. Close the lid and it goes out after a minute or two. Brackets are held on by double sided sticky tape. Light sticks to brackets by magnets. Seems unaffected by the low temperature.

Very surprised the low temp does not affect battery longevity, but if it works, great idea.

I think those lights are pretty cheap anyway aren’t they even if the temp degrades them (of the battery to be accurate).

I have similar lights in main and fore cabins of my 38. In main - one either side over the bunks. In fore - its on the bulkhead above the door.

All USB charged ... and with remotes. (Each came with remote - but only need one - point at the light and click on / off / dim etc.)

Amazing amount of light for so small an item. But my main concern is the magnet bit ... I was hoping magnet was the plate stuck to the boat ... but the magnet is inside the light case and non-removable. I was hoping to remove and use Velcro.

The problem I have with my top-entry fridge ... is its right back under side deck and I have to stand on something to be able to reach or see what is in there.

I did think of using baskets but couldn't find any in st/st. Using clear plastic tubs at the moment but will checkout Hamster Baskets.

For our chest freezer I used marine ply many years ago to make ‘boxes’ so items could be segregated.

A missed commercial opportunity perhaps now I see your post.

Simple ideas are often the best; not always, but sometimes.

I bought a bunch of string bags and keep handles accessible. Different colours with idea of colour coded contents !!
