Can anyone help me in getting further travel details of Port Napoleon
I have been to the web site & it gives 'Marseille Provence and Montpellier - Frejorgues airports' as being close.
Has anyone traveled there? & any other info would be of help.
Notice that the marina is inland is access restricted?
& last but not least whats the area like for sailing???

Hi

I live fairly close.

I've been once by car and once by boat to PN. As far as I know there is little in the way of public transport, so you are talking taxis ?

In fact, the nearest airport is Nimes who do Ryanair to Luton at present, then in summer to Luton, Stansted and Liverpool. I've got links for flights to this area :here.

This part of the Med is subject to very variable weather and PN is quite a way from the open sea. Forecasts of F 3-4 at 10.00 can be F 6-7 by lunchtime. Problem is that the worst Mistral winds follow the Rhone valley and make it difficult to go North. Usual scenario is :

Summer - no wind in the morning, Southerly breezes close to the coast in the afternoon.
Winter - Either no wind or F7 with directions over 180 deg in a couple of hours

There are no safe havens betweem Caro & St Marie which has caught me out a couple of times !

You need storm sails & a good engine in this area ?

No wind and sunset scenario last Monday :
