Does anyone out there know much about general Freeman cruiser history. I have been looking at Freeman 30's and someone said to me that they did a Shorter version which looks almost identical but actually measures 28'6". there are some subtle differences i'm told such as a different windscreen and when looking at the stern, the true Freman 30 has convex topsides yet the 28'6 one has convex or is it the other way around? anyway, i've been looking around and i think they are right, i think i saw one on the river at maidstone, the only way i would know is to measure it but the boat was under way. Just curious, does anyone know for sure?

There are basically two 'versions' of the Freeman 30.
The early version has wooden cabin sides and decks. This was available in two styles, Aft cabin and aft cockpit. Both had twin Parsons Porbeagle engines. (50hp?) When viewed from the stern, the hull is slightly concave. I don't know the exact length of this one.

The later Freeman 30 was all GRP and only available in the aft cabin version. Engines were twin Bedfords in the first ones,(100hp) replaced later in production by Thornycrofts. (120hp)
This version the hull is slightly convex when viewed from the stern. This version is 29' 6" long. - I own one!!

There was another version of the 30. That was a brown and beige 1970's wedge. But Freeman's were masters of stretching and shrinking moulds to special order so anything is possible.

There was a 28 produced in aft cockpit only, but that was an entirely different boat. Small engined river cruiser.

Edit:- In view of the post below.

There was another Freeman 30, it was done in the same colour gell as most of the 33s from memory it had patio doors, aft cockpit only.
