France and Holla for 14 days, the Transport Minister has announced.

The move came after Boris Johnson said ministers would be “absolutely ruthless” in deciding on whether to impose the self-isolation requirement.

Travellers arriving from Monaco, Malta, Turks & Caicos & Aruba must also quarantine for 14 days if they arrive in the UK after 4am on Saturday, Grant Shapps revealed on Thursday.

blast - was heading Holland-wards in a couple of weeks... now have run out of destinations. Channel Islands (bit of a schlep though as only have 2 weeks off)

At best a visit to Alderney and Guernsey will involve 14 days self isolation on board.

Most of the Solent fleshpots are book in advance only so perhaps also best avoided

So if I come back from a trip to France, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands and a number of other countries I have to 'quarantine' for 14 days.
However should someone from the 'locked down' parts of the UK are seemingly free to visit anywhere in the UK , potentially infecting people in the areas where they are staying ! Wht the difference ?
Worrying for those of us in holiday resort areas of the country . Here in Norfolk we have one of the lowest incidences of Co19 in the country. If we see a spike we will know why .

England's coronavirus hotspots
Blackburn with Darwen, Oldham, Leicester, Bradford, Calderdale, Pendle, Trafford, Manchester, Rochdale, Tameside, Salford, Kirklees, Stockport, Burnley, Bolton, Bury, Hyndburn, Preston, Rossendale, Wigan, Luton, Swindon, Northampton, Peterborough, Sandwell, Bedford, Wakefield, Oadby and Wigston, Eden.

Cynics might think politics is playing a large part in this, but probably best discussed on other forums

And the common denominator of the above is ?????

What with the risk of catching the virus, and them being Brexiteer territory, they are unlikely to be my holiday destination of choice!

It's them coming OUT that concerns me , not Visiting them. Why would you ?
Whilst they are supposedly locked down, many are crtainly ignoring the restrictions and taking holidays !

Oh no, the Brexit debate has invaded the gentlemanly, quiet and tranquil ECF. :(

Agree.

Hi Guys,

There is a special place for that subject so please leave it there so we can all be nice to each other here.

On quarantine, the inconstancy of government policy has convinced me that this is a political agenda; being headed by the mantra to be seen to do something, however, irrelevant.

The irony for me is I am stuck in The Western Algarve,a very safe place (no deaths and a couple of 200 cases brought in by visitors) but would have to quarantine if I return to dirty old England. As I am returning to winterize the boat and static caravan, I would have no recognized address or land-line so there is no way I can meet the UK quarantine requirements i.e. the authorities couldn't contact me.

On my return to Portugal, I would have no requirement to quarantine.(y)

Barmy.?

If you don't provide a address for your quarantine, the Government will provide one. Yarlswood Detention Centre Bedford for you, my man. ?

When I passed that way a few weeks ago, Guernsey and Alderney were closed to ALL boats from outside the baliwick.
Even picking up a mooring at Braye or Sark to wait for the tide to turn was not allowed.

In case of emergency boats would be instructed by Guernsey CG to proceed to St Peter Port.
Crew would not be allowed to land.

Last I heard, this has not changed.
