France imposes 10 day isolation

FWIW, (and please don’t take this as in invitation on my part to ignore the regulations), UK citizens self isolating for 7 days in France will not be subject to official controls whilst in self isolation

“Toutefois, du fait de la faible incidence du Covid-19 au Royaume-Uni, il n’y aura pas de contrôle à domicile pour ces voyageurs.”

The justification for non-control, that it is due to the low incidence of Covid in UK now, does seem to make the whole business of isolating self contradictory.

HK has tried to get a travel bubble going with Singapore a couple of times, but had to shelve it each time due to a flare up of cases in SG. While vaccination take up in HK continues to be poor I don’t see any relaxation of the travel rules happening here any time soon. And of course with the government here being a bit miffed about the BNO visa offer they are not minded to be nice to UK travellers.

That may be correct but I don't think that affects the need for a 'vital reason' to go France ?
My understanding is that going to your boat is no more a vital reason than going to a second home, which is also not allowed at this point ?
I'd love to be wrong, I'm really trying to get to my boat !

I spoke with Pete from Halcyon yacht deliveries yesterday and even he doesn't know whether yacht deliveries are allowed

As things stand, I’m afraid that is the case. The list of vital reasons is pretty specific. My daughter & her boyfriend were planning to come here for 2 weeks and work from my home in June. She can still come as she is a French citizen, but impossible for him to make the trip.

I share your frustration. My wife & I would both like to visit the UK to visit infirm parents who we haven’t seen in over a year. I hope that once there is a little more clarity about the Indian variant, particularly as regards the efficacy of the vaccines in dealing with it, that these restrictions can be eased. After all, vaccinations are now up to 25million in France (after a slow start) and proceeding apace.

We're in a similar situation - it's been nearly 18 months since we've last seen our daughter (X-Mas 2019).
And I haven't seen my sisters-in-law for nearly two years, and my wife died in February. Of course we're in touch electronically, but under the circumstances nothing is a substitute for a hug.

Our son hasn't been back from the States since December 2019 but we do chat by WhatsApp weekly. He is due to come back in July but will have to see what the situation is for getting back into the States 5 weeks later. He is a resident but no Green Card yet.

Does anyone know if there is a timescale in France for review of the current tourist ban from UK to France, end of June perhaps? There does not seem to be much in the French press I can find about a review date.
