I don't know much about dogs except that one end bites and the other end produces waste and so this question may be naive. But, would it be possible to teach a dog to urinate and excrete into a bucket?

I guess that's the difference with dogs and some people in that at times it would appear that they excrete from the wrong end, as it were...;)

But let's not high jack Lisa's thread I'd imagine she would rather hear some more advice and ideas for her trip :)

I really like Fowey. But I think my favourite thing - not sure if it's still there - is s/y Gallant. Up to the China clay works, past Daphne du Maurier's house and Dawn French's and a look at the various moored craft whilst watching the operator shovelling coal into the furnace. Unmissable!

The standard technique is to train them to go on a square of astroturf, which you then trail over the side (admittedly more practical at yacht speeds than mobo speeds) to wash it off. But not all dogs will take to this, it's something you really need to start them on as puppies.

Surely you could wedge a Pugs rear end into a bucket Lisa? Photo please, if you manage that!
You will have a great time in Fowey, if you have decent tenders there is plenty of exploring to done up and down stream and it's really very pretty in this part of the world :)
Shame you can't get down to Falmouth, great cruising and just an hour further....

imho, if you make it to the Fal and have to choose just one thing, make it Trelissick. Marvel at the gardens (I prefer them to Heligan despite the latter's charm). Stand in wonder at the plaque on the beach.

Good call but anchor just off Trebah beach, (Helford), and take a dingy to explore the best Garden in Cornwall, (and its dog friendly), and they sell roskilly's in the beach hut, and you can pick up a green mooring and have lunch in the Ferry Boat....
You're going to want to move to Cornwall Lisa...
