Foulgers Gat?

I went through Foulgers on monday last.No trouble. You do have to be aware of the tide & we took a back bearing before the safe water mark at the other end came in to view. There was more depth of water than I remembered previously or perhaps I am just getting old(er).

According to the Oxford dictionary of English names it is derived from the French Foulcher which in its turn comes from old German Fulcher, meaning 'People-army'. Another of its derivatives is Foucar. Bet you don't find many of those around.

No idea who the particular Foulger was who gave his/her name to the gat.
