Santa is being very kind to me this year because I have been a good boy and has offered to deliver a new set of foul weather gear. The only problem is his elves are not sure whether to provide Gill OS 1 or Musto MPX.

I can't make up my mind any chance the forum could help me arrive at a decision?

In the normal forum tradition of never answering the question asked, can I recommend XM offshore.
(What I bought after trying on and examining your favourites)

Also not answering the question, but now is the wrong time to buy. Buy it in the summer when it's reduced to half price!

Agree with trying on first.

I believe Gill have better customer service when the Musto ones start to leak (as they will) and I don't like Gill gear either, but do like good customer service.

Priorities are different for different people.
Well off can afford lovely looking Musto and replace
Others go for second hand and I go for ex-military kit (the Gore-tex membrane) is protected better with thicker laminates.
Heard good things about Decathalon of course.

But then I also don't care looking like a complete prat

I used online surfdome.com recently for winter oilies.Gill trousers were a good fit (5'10" me) Henri LLoyd top has no flap over the zipper, a bit of a surprise, but perhaps ok for coastal. As it happens, I did not do the winter series this year, so all still in the bag!Was in economy mode so I guess you get what you pay for!Missed the real thing (Musto) in TK Maxx.
