That could be a possibilty for dinner and a couple of drinks, but we'd need to leave early in a Taxi to put Callum to bed.

Might be better somewhere within walking distance, or half way between the show and the Travelodge.

Cheers

Sorry Doug,
I probably got the wrong name as well if the truth be known /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes it is a PUB thanks for pointing out my little Faux Par.
It is the famous little pub that featured in that tv series about making sealines.
It is just before the Sealine bridge on the port side.

I did have a look at the Travel lodge site and it looked close (see bridge with Toll on map.)

Yes I realise now that the river on the map is not the Hamble but if you wouldnt mind bearing with me while I try to send Doug on a wild goose chase, the idea of him searching for a toll bridge when I meant Troll bridge ......... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sorry Doug,
it started as an honest mistake, I dont know the area at all well and saw the river close to the travel lodge and assumed it was the Hamble.

Apart from April 1st I have never knowingly set out to con this * forum and I am still a little perplexed as to what trolling is.

* I might have been a little economic with the facts on the Raggie forum.

Hi All

Just thought i would help you out with a few pubs near that hotel. Shame the dock o the bay is closed as its not bad there, but a bit yuppyfied as you say. Just up the road from the hotel is "the cowherds" by the common, not too bad, would probably suit. For something a bit more lively you can wander down to london road - there are a load of bars there, though maybe a bit busy with students? There is a wetherspoons etc there as well as "independent" bars, and a gentlemans "club". Plenty of food places. All within about 10 mins of the travellodge. Hope that helps.

Your nearest best bet if the 'Dock of the Bay' is closed will be 'The Avenue' in Padwell road, about 300 yards south of the Travelodge down the Avenue heading towards the city centre. Used to be my regular many moons ago, don't visit so often now but I'd reckon it 'ud do the job.

Confirm where you are going and I'll wobble over on the treader.

Al,,

Jim and I will be there, no excuse not to as we live less than 10 min walk from there!! To get from the show to the Teavel lodge you will pass through the centre of town and most of the decent pubs etc. The Cow heards is an easy walk from the hotel and big enough and family friendly enough to fit the bill.
