Ahhh, now see...where should one hang the forum burgee?

I send off my checque to Hayden this morning and thought, right where will it go???

I can't hang it from the bow as I have nothing to hang it from (although I did think maybe I could come up with something)

I cant' hang it from the Starboard as I've got my Greek courtsey flag...

....Which leaves the Port side, is that okay?

Can one hang it below the Ensign...If so, that's another option.

Good to see you got a couple of photos of the Seal.

Upriver from the marina sits the moorings of the York Motor Yacht Club. I noticed they all seem to fly their club burgee's below the ensign, so figured it was correct flag etiquette.

If not, tough, best place to display it and it's staying put.

Regarding the comment about the seal being stuck behind the lock. We often see seals 'swim' over the gate at Port Dinorwic, clean out the mullet and swim back over the lock. If they miss the tide and they can't get over the gap in the gates, they have to wait a few hours.

Animals have clearer idea what they are up to than we do.

Did you get a proper burgee or the iffy one touted by Kawasaki?

Twas from HLB Towers and has both pics the right way up.

According to another forumite, apparently the seal has lived there quite happily for years, first time I ever knew of it though.

Forgive Kawasaki his sins, his brains have been addled by throwing powerful motorcycles over large bits of rugged welsh countryside. :D

Nice to hear from someone in the real world ! Couple of years ago the Harbour Master from Goole docks came on the radio and warned of a whale as a navigation hazard,we looked and low and behold there it was. Unfortunately it was dead with large gashes on its body.We get them quite often in the Trent.

GL, our local chandlery sells a short SS flagstaff, 12" - 300mm high thin walled tube, 1/2" dia. with a circular clamp underneath to attach to the bowrail at the very front of the pulpit, and a cap on the upper end. Cost about a fiver GBP, obviously not 316 SS, but looks and lasts fine. They are chinese made, no brand name.

Aye, that's what I was thinking I need to find something along those lines.

I'm off to the swindlers tomorrow so I'll have a looksee and see what's on offer.

I hear that on some boats, the flagstaffs are completely removable, including the holding screws. Isn't that right Philz?

ooooohhhhhhhh how embarrassing....a real sailor would never let such an event occur.....

Normally there would be a ensign flapping away in this picture..:D

...I searched for 30 minutes retracing my steps but alas, it was lost to Dave Jone's locker..

I always double check it now...:D:D
