Yep but it's upside down.

When I get back home, I'll see how the jobs going on. Been two weeks away on the boat and achieved about 40 miles there and back.

Philiz was broken down, Little Ship in attendance. MF standing by. Waiting for the call to drag Merymile back home.

Merrymile seemed to get mended, so had no need for the mighty thruching power of MF.

MF sulked and went back home.

No!. What happened?

This is the sort of thing that drives good diesel burning boaters towards the dark side of Fray Bentos pies, rags and string.

Actually, I just rang Phiz and Biz and they me they didn't break down, but stopped to investigate the extra steam coming out the back.

They turned the impeller around and everything is fine now. This morning they are rafted up with Little Ship to the Prince Madog on Menai Bridge pier.

I bet that drinks cabinet got a visit last night.

Right, the definitve version.

On starting Saturday morning all seemed normal when we checked the raw water output as we always do. We set off for Puffin Island with the intention of maybe carrying on to Conwy along with Tom and James aboard Little Ship.
Shortly after Bangor pier we noticed a considerable amount of steam from the rear after a short run with the turbo cutting in so we picked up a friends mooring at Beaumaris and Little Ship came alongside to help investigate.
I cleaned the raw water filter out a couple of weeks ago and done no running since, so the assumption was I'd cocked it up. The basket wasn't sitting properly in the filter and James realised the inlet had been 'got at' previously and a copper pipe had been fitted which made it difficult to get the basket to sit properly. A bit of fiddiling and it was seated down and the top re-fitted, but the water throughput was still quite poor. Removal of the impellor revealed heavy wear to the cover plate, strange as the impellor was only fitted a few months ago and the plate was hardly makred then. Anyway, the plate was turned around and all was well.

The likelyhood is, because the boat has been sitting in the mud on big spring tides, silt has been pushed into the intake and the poorly seated filter basket has allowed it into the pump resulting in the rapid wear.

So, new cover plate and wear plate required, but other than that all is well and a good weekend was had, we had a good afternoon at Puffin and spent the night alongside the Prince Madoc rafted to Little Ship.

Fish and chips and beer rounded the evening off, oh and it was our wedding anniversary!

Thanks to the AA men, James and Tom, for the assistance and good company over the weekend.

I thought I'd said all that, only shorter.
Happy anniversary to you both, and when I'm next down, must both pop round and I'll let you look longingly at the whisky bottle.

Steady on Phil...... you know how to treat a girl........ a sit down fish supper on her wedding anniversary :) She'll be getting use to the good life if you carry on.

Nah, it's alright. I don't plan to do it every year, but it was a special one at 10 years so I pushed the boat out a bit. ;)

I know, but once it's in sight.............it's going to get drained my friend ;)

It's still got the supermarket security device on it.

Deaf John spotted it the other week, but I managed to distract him. Easy to do, with him being an Ex plod inspector .

PM me for details of where to send your cheques ;)

lol

We cruised from a spot where we had been fishing almost to the Deben on Sunday, at 6 knots. I said to SWMBO "look, we are going at yottie speed" as the saily boats to starboard were just about keeping up. Then i got bored and leant on the lever, back to proper speeds. I'd also been kind of thinking of sticks and rags, but this experience did pretty much bring me to my senses. :D

Listen, don't you start! I've got enough to contend with the North Wales mob giving me stick. But I've seen the light you see, mind you I might change my mind over winter ;) It wont be for a couple of years or so in any event.
