what is the better engine regarding power & reliability Ford 4D (2701e) or BMC 1.5 Diesel ?

They are not comparable engines in terms of power. As you know they are both automotive units and their suitability for marine use depends on 2 things. First appropriate to the boat and second the quality of the marinisation. Reliability is largely a function of maintenance.

Depends on the boat. Both are supremely reliable. As a very rough guide I'd say over 30ft the Ford and under the BMC.
