Just arrived in Perth about an hour ago. Weather great all over at the moment. A bit of a drought on in most places it seems but I'm not complaining.

Sanctuary Cove Boat Show great venue, really busy, lots happening all over here. The overseas tourism freeze caused by SARS and terrorist threat playing straight into the hands of the local marine industry.

Another 36 hours here, then on the long haul home and straight in the office Wednesday morning.

Strange isnt it how we all have different levels of success and delight.

Two news stories this week showed the extremes most vividly
1) A woman who was so over weight that she had never walked the 600 yrd to take her daughter to school. She was going to USA to get treatment
2) The guy walking unaided, singlehanded to the North Pole. He is now waiting for a break in the weather to be rescued.

The other weekend at Mercury I was really chuffed to make my own way over to Cowes and back on the Sunday. Major achievment. Those that are further up the nautical experiance ladder would consider it a "boring" Sunday afternoon drive.

Its very easy to forget how much experiance we gain over our lives and how much we learn. My daughter was delighted last week when she got her first "certificate" for coming 4th in the Cheltehnam Music Festival playing her recorder. Brings it down to basics doesnt it.

Congratulations to your daughter! I never managed a certificate. Then gave it up wish I hadn't. I think every trip on the boat is an achievement and enjoyable trip! Every journey has it's own hazards and pleasures, well done on achieving it on your own! Those further up the ladder, often remember journeys like yours with fondness, or they damn well should! Just to get some new water under the keel after the winter layup, gave me a glow inside and it was only a 30 mile trip! To the boat lift!
