Re: grovelling apology

hum yes, you're right. Cept that a new, difficult or off-beat question slips quickly belwo a longstanding thread. net result is that the bb "looks the same" for most of a day even tho new questions added.

also, also ... newbies can just add to a thread without Taraah!! bringing thread to the top.

Matt, you are just so predicatable!

Anyway, it's not your fault if they've designed it badly. If you delete a post then that thread should be returned to the position it was in before the post was added.

But that is the whole point of the new system!!

Before you had to keep going back to the index and scrolling up and down looking for posts that had been replied to since your last visit.

Now they are all neatly in order from the top.

Click on the first one and then keep clicking next to get to the next most recently replied to till you've read them all.

Simple.

Plus you won't miss any which have moved onto the next page under the weight of new posts, and people don't keep on having to post "updates" meaning that a subject can span several threads to keep it in vison. They just add the update to the thread on the subject and bingo, its back where we can all see it.

Big big improvement, and much easier. Give it a chance, you'll see the benefits as soon as you get used to it.

Ari.

Ari I agree with you but it does take a while to get used to. You know people hate change - Obviously those of us with more adaptable, quick thinking minds have an advantage {;-))

KIM - How about making it a USER selection so that we can choose - say set it up in our user options ??

Adrian,

I do not resent change when I consider it for the better. Whilst you have more spare time at the moment than a number of us it is easy to take your time looking over the forum.

Here in Malabo we have had several technical difficulties during the last week (I think that is sufficiently politically correct not to get fired for) and I have worked between 16 and 18 hours a day four times in the last week.

As Paul said, when you just have a quick 20 minutes or so of light relief looking at the forum; it is very much easier just to find your place from where you left off and trawl up through "Previous" Posts until you run out of time. That way you do not miss any.

If I had the luxury of being able to spend a couple of hours surfing everyday it would not make an iotre of difference, however, like Paul, I do not and it makes it very much more difficult to keep abreast of the more interesting posts, especially when one has not had the opportunity of looking at the Forum for a couple of days.

Hope you find a job soon.

Chris

Re: grovelling apology

Not sure whether this date lark is going to work well on this forum. What appears to be happening is that people engaging in a bit of banter (like this) could have the effect of keeping a rather unimportant thread at the top.

Been hanging about on AVFORUMS.COM a little lately as I'm getting a new telly. That has date thingy enabled and wors well as there are some killer topics (Sony FQ) that sta at the top. also this forum has voting enabled If this did then we could all have a vote!

Re: Just this once?

Come come, KimH, this is not the first time you've gone potty, failed to see the funny side. In fact, I can't easily remember ANY time you or the ybw team haven't gone up the wall at the slightest dig. DFLight and many other issues drove you up the wall, but were actually harmless fun - or was it that the part of the fun was you going potty? Somewhere else (no idea where with this new arrangement but friday sometime) another ybw-er went ape at a slight in-joke against rodriguez.

Cheers for the personal stuff, tho it took 15 mins not all afternoon.

Meanwhile, here's something for you: take something that works very well as it stands and change it all around, perhaps unbolt the engine if it's a car or whatever. Then, imagine that it's better because it's noisier. This will perfectly emulate the situation with this BB - lots more posts... cept that over half over the w/e are bout the bb.
