So Volvo FSI works out as a super deal!
You get:
Exhaust back pressure and WOT pyro check.
Fuel restriction check.
Raw water pump delta 'P'
Engine compartment delta 'T'
Tacho calibration check.
Etc, Ect
This would suggest that Volvo allow their engines to be installed and signed off with scant recognition of their guidelines?
Paul Id totally agree with you there.
Im currently rebuilding a green engine from a yacht thats 4 years old nd requires pistons, 1 conrod new valves, head refurb etc new injectors, its all down to poor installation and yet, was fiited by an approved volvopenta dealer and signed off by one of the south coasts main dealers for warranty.
It has filled up with sea water back into the cylinders, when myself and a well known surveyor acting on behalf of his insurers looked at the part stripped engine and the route of the exhaust we just laughed at the way it had been put together, obviously his insurers will not pay out for the repairs, but somehow the dealer has no recolection on paper of ever stamping the installation check for its warranty, how strange???.
I try and help clients with warranty claims when the dealer shuts the door, just done one over the dreaded dph steering rams, got them supplied and fitted under the sale of goods act, and uk trading standards helped out stating 6 years warranty on a new product, obviously we all know the woes of dph steering rams, there now on the 3rd generation a new model just introduced to try and last over 18 months in salt water.
What im getting at is why cant there be one policy for volvo warranty worldwide rather than countries having different policies over warranty, and when EU law states that any purchaser can use a non franchised dealer or even do your own servicing as long as your registered for vat and use genuine parts and oil, the warranty is honoured, also when updates are available for ecu software why dont vp inform clients there available, then its up to the owner to act upon it.
