Now that our Government has decided that F & M is no longer a threat, what are the French doing to Brit yachts that arrive on their shores ? Listening to the British Govt, and doing nothing ?

Or are they actively pouring disinfectant over boats, because F & M is still rampant in some rural areas, far away from the farming that our politicians observe daily in the open countryside of Westminster Green ?

PS : I picked up on another web site, a comment that the disinfectant is dilute citric acid. If so, it should brighten up the gel-coat nicely, and leave the boat 'lemon fresh' for the holiday.

Just returned from 2 weeks in North Brittany as far west as Morlaix. Apart from faded notices and dry mats in a couple of places nothing was said or had to done anywhere.

No sausage rolls, or bacon, on the Eurostar though!
Dangerous British stuff!

Seems that yachts are not infectious, but people arriving from Central London are!

Never mind UK F&M, what about Spanish swine-fever?

F&M is old hat now - the latest "outrage" is Spanish swine-fever.
All pig-meat products from Spain are totally interdit in the rest of the EC.
Chorizos, jamon de Serrano, bacon, morcilles Asturianas etc.

The French douanes are being quite fierce about it!!!!

Banning rabbits on the ferries - myxamatosis?????

As at last weekend ferry passengers (Portsmouth - St Malo, Brittany Ferries) were being given a leaflet saying the French were refusing to allow individuals to import any fresh meat or dairy products. Disembarking vehicles at St Malo had to drive througha disinfectant bath. But nobody actually checked our campervan for 'illegal substances' at St Malo, and we were allowed straight through although there did some to be some random checking taking place by the French Customs.

Far more curious was the on board photographic shop, who were unable to supply Duracell batteries: apparently they have pictures of rabbits on the packaging - and older French sailors have strong feelings about rabbits being unlucky on shipboard.....!

So make sure you dont use Duracells in your GPS.
